Patrick J.  Moriarty
Patrick J. “Pat” Moriarty, 85, of Shrewsbury died Sunday August 4, 2019 at the Oasis at Dodge Park in Worcester after a period of declining health.

The love of his life and wife of 49 years, Alice M. (LeBlanc) Moriarty died in 2005. He leaves his loving children, Patrick J. Moriarty, Jr., of Sanford, Maine, Maureen Johnson and her husband Bert of Lithia, FL, Steven G. Moriarty and his wife Alice, with whom Patrick lived, Kevin Moriarty and his wife Laura of Grafton, Michael Moriarty and his wife Kelli of Orlando, FL; fourteen grandchildren, Kathleen Cortese, Patrick Moriarty, Thomas Moriarty, Meredith Zalva, Kayleigh Pung, Nicholas Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Alex Moriarty, Stephanie Hibbard, Megan Moriarty, Caroline Moriarty, Jill Moriarty, Shannon Moriarty and Kenneth Moriarty; three great grandchildren, Sophia and Brady Zalva and Benjamin Cortese; also survived by a sister, Joan Smith of Naples, FL and four nieces, Sandy Zdonczyk, Karen Sherback, Shauna Moriarty and Diane Moriarty. Besides his wife he is predeceased by a brother James H. Moriarty.

He was born in Orange, MA son of the late James P. Moriarty and Elizabeth (Prue) Moriarty. Patrick served his country proudly with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict being honorably discharged in 1957. He worked for several years as the Maintenance Director of the Housing Authority for the Town of Brookline before he retired. In those retirement years Pat enjoyed working alongside his sons, Steven and Kevin at their place of business, mainly because he was guaranteed a “free lunch”. He also loved traveling in the family motor home with his wife Alice throughout the United States. But most importantly, his grandchildren where the pride and joy each day of his life.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Pat’s family on Thursday August 8, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main St, Shrewsbury. A Prayer Service honoring his life will be held on Friday August 9, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home followed by burial with military honors at Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, (alz.org), 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.
