Obituary for Bernice I. Berry (Strothers)

Bernice I. (Strothers) Berry, 93, longtime Auburn resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Webster Manor Healthcare Center.

Born and raised in Worcester, Bernice was one of five children born to the late Ralph and Irene (Corey) Strothers. She was educated in Worcester as well, graduating from Commerce High School. She met her beloved husband, the late Alfred J. Berry, and the pair settled in Auburn to begin their family. Bernice worked for Spaulding Printing in Worcester as a book binder, retiring after thirty years. Bernice then worked at the former Bloom Closet Craft Store in Webster Square, with her brother. She was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and was a member of the Auburn Women’s Club. Bernice loved being by the water, especially Nantasket and Hampton Beach.

Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her three children, Alfred R. Berry, Denise I. Berry, and John C. Berry; and four siblings, Ralph, Kenneth, John and Mary. Bernice is survived by her daughter-in-law, Penny Berry, of Auburn; her grandchildren, Gillian Goodhue, of Sarasota, FL, and Ian Goodhue, of Auburn; and her great-grandchild, Eli Mondor-Goodhue, of Auburn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 220 North Main Street, Suite 104 Natick, MA 01760.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Berry family between 9:30 and 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn, MA. Service and burial will be held privately.
