Obituary for Laurence G. Fitts

Laurence "Gordon" Fitts of Auburn passed away peacefully on May 20, 2021, after a long illness. Gordon was the beloved son of Lorraine "Kitty" (Gleick) Nordgren and Lawrence Fitts, Sr. who predeceased him. Born August 2, 1948, Gordon grew up in Auburn surrounded by a large and loving family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Gordon graduated from Auburn High School and Worcester Junior College. He retired from the Auburn Housing Authority where he was employed for many years. A lifelong lover of animals, Gordon's dogs were his constant companions. He also enjoyed feeding the birds and the other woodland creatures that inhabited his property. Gordon was an avid bowler, golfer, billiards player and, up until his passing, a teller of really bad jokes (he loved Rodney Dangerfield). He was incredibly generous to everyone and gave to many charities and animal shelters. Gordon will be dearly missed by his family and his precious dog, Little Girl.

Memorial donations may be made to The Bosler Humane Society, PO Box 12, Baldwinville, MA 01436 (www.boslerhs.org) or Sterling Animal Shelter, 17 Laurelwood Rd, Sterling, MA 01564 (www.sterlingshelter.org).

Gordon's personal message to everyone: "Thank you to all my family, friends and neighbors who accompanied me on my life's journey. Think of someone you love and have not seen in a while and call or visit them and tell them how much they mean to you."

A graveside service and reception will be held at the family’s convenience.
