Obituary for Delores A. Bengtsson
Delores A. Bengtsson, 68, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, June 18th, 2021 at CareOne of Millbury, with her family by her side, after a lengthy struggle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Delores is survived by her sister, Karolyn L. Mara and her significant other Melvin Kaufman, both of Worcester; as well the extended Mara/Kaufman families, cousins in the U.S. and Sweden, her second family at CareOne, where she resided for the last fifteen years, and many wonderful friends. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Allan and Sigrid (Thoren) Bengtsson.
Born in Worcester, raised and educated in Auburn, Delores attended the John Robert Powers Modeling and Acting School. She was a cast member in both Jesus Christ Superstar and Driving Miss Daisy, which she greatly enjoyed. Delores dedicated over twenty years to the Norton Company/St. Gobain, retiring due to her MS. She continued to live independently until she moved to CareOne and began her next journey. While she was in remission, Delores travelled throughout the United States, Sweden, and the Islands. Despite her struggles with physical illness, she always remaining positive and persevered no matter what. She was loved and cherished by her adoring and ever-present sister Karolyn.
Delores’ family would like to thank the entire staff of CareOne for their loving care throughout the years of her stay with them. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Activities Department at CareOne, 312 Millbury Avenue, Millbury, MA 01527.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Delores’ family between 4:00 and 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 24th, 2021 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn, MA. Her funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 25th, 2021 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 90 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Auburn, MA, followed by burial at Hillside Cemetery.
