Obituary for Mary E. (Martin) Pennell-Lyons

Mary E. (Martin) Pennell-Lyons, 97, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 in the comfort of her son’s home, with her loving family by her side.

She leaves her devoted son, Charles V. Pennell, Sr. and his wife Carol, of Worcester, with whom she lived; her thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and fifteen great-great-grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Richard L. “Dick” Lyons; her daughters, Darlene Saucier, Elizabeth A. Dubuque, and Mary Jane Stanley; her grandsons, Wayne Saucier and Charles V. Pennell, Jr.; and her great-grandson, Adam Smith.

Mary was born in Dover, NH, only child of the late Charles J. and Mary (Perron) Martin. She dedicated twenty years of her career to the former W.T. Grant Co. on Main Street in Worcester, where she was Personnel Manager, and she retired from T.J. Maxx after seven years as Assistant Manager.

Mary loved spending time at the family’s lake house in Charlton, loved driving around, doing word-search puzzles, and loved animals, especially dogs. She was known for being an avid reader.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mary’s family between 9 – 11 AM on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn, with a prayer service to follow at 11 AM. Burial will be held in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
