Obituary for Lillian (Hartwick) Halpin

Lillian Halpin, 89, passed away on Tuesday September 13, 2022 after a long battle with multiple health issues.

Lillian was born in Worcester, MA on December 21, 1932 to Percy & Lena Hartwick. She was predeceased by her husband Robert C Halpin. She was the next to the youngest of seven girls with no surviving sisters. She leaves her son Robert A Halpin Sr., his wife Lisa K Halpin, 3 nephews, 1 niece, 5 grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren.

She graduated from Commerce High School, Worcester. She was employed by the Dept. of Mental Health in Worcester as their Medical Secretary in the Pathology Laboratory until her retirement.

Lillian was a life-member of the DAV Auxiliary and Past Commander of Worcester Chapter Unit 4, serving four times as Commander. She was a VAVS Deputy at the Brockton VA Campus and served on the Council of Aging & Friends of the Auburn Senior Center Association Board. She also served on the Personnel Board, the Flag and Maintenance Committee and the Veterans Memorial Corridor Advisory Committee for the Town of Auburn. In August of 2002, Lillian was selected by the National Past Commanders to receive the DAV Auxiliary Member of the Year Award.

Lillian and her husband received the Citizens of the Year award from the Town of Auburn for their volunteer work and dedication to the town and veterans.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, September 21st from 4-7 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, September 22 at 10:30am the funeral home. Entombment, will follow at Notre Dame Mausoleum.
