Obituary for Richard R. "Rich" Powers

Richard R. “Rich” Powers, 69, of Auburn, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a long illness.

He leaves his devoted children, Kelly Powers and her fiancé Timothy Watkins, and Thomas Powers and his longtime girlfriend, Marcia Brown, all of Middletown, CT; Timothy’s daughters, Riley and Peyton; his sister, Deborah Orsi, of Auburn; his sisters-in-law, Rona and Peggy Powers; his longtime close friend, Gina Purchia, of New York; many nieces and nephews, and his beloved grand-dogs, Tank and Digby. Rich was predeceased by his siblings, Frederick and James Powers; their parents, Walter J. Powers and Mary G. (Benoit) Powers Barrier; and his brother-in-law, David Orsi.

Rich was born in Worcester, raised and educated in Auburn. He was a graduate of Auburn High School; prior to beginning his career. He worked as a Manager for Future Electronics for years.

In his free time, Rich enjoyed hunting, fishing, and rooting for the Red Sox and Patriots.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Powers family from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM in the Middlefield Section of Hillside Cemetery, 65 Central Street, Auburn. A reception will be held at the Auburn Lodge of Elks, 754 Southbridge, MA after the graveside.
