Obituary for Elizabeth A. "Betty" (Vires) Warren

Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Vires) Warren, 74, longtime Auburn resident, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 in the comfort of her home. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 46 years, Jeffrey A. Warren, in 2018.

She leaves her devoted sons: James M. Warren, and Michael S. Warren, both of Auburn; her siblings: Patricia Nee and her husband Bob, James J. Vires, and Deborah M. Vires; her nephews: Peter, Rob, and Brad Simmons; her nieces, Nanette (Ciociolo) Hanna and Christina (Ciociolo) Sawicki; her grand-nieces, Michelle Hanna, Julia Sawicki and Bailey Simmons; her grand-nephews, Rick Hanna and William Sawicki; as well as her lifelong friend, Sally (Flynn) Palermo. Betty was also predeceased by her parents, James G. Vires (1984) and Violet T. (Luksza) Vires (2007); as well as her brother, Timothy P. Vires, in 2021.

Betty was born, raised, and educated in Worcester, graduating from Burncoat High School in 1967. She held an extensive career as the Cafeteria Manager at Auburn Middle School, until her retirement after over 20 years.

In her free time, she enjoyed spending time in the kitchen – cooking and baking were a passion of Betty’s. She was famous for her homemade Greek grape leaves and Thanksgiving pies of all varieties imaginable. Betty also loved bird-watching, and spending vacations to the beach in Ogunquit, ME with her family, by whom she will be greatly missed.

Memorial flowers may be sent to the funeral home, and will be delivered to her family.

A graveside service will be held privately in Hillside Cemetery, and she will be buried alongside her beloved Jeff. The Britton-Wallace Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with arrangements.
