Obituary for Robert R. "Bob" Benoit
Robert R. “Bob” Benoit, 96, longtime Auburn resident, passed away peacefully into the arms of God at Rose Monahan Hospice Home, on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
As a man of faith, family, and friendship, Bob leaves his sweetheart and wife of 40 years, Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Shenkowski) Benoit; his children, Kimberlee Aldrich and her husband Robert, Robin Pineault and her husband Ronald, Jill Sullivan and her husband Jay, and Christopher Robert Benoit and his wife Pamela McLaughlin; his step-children, Richard Hannan and his wife Sue, Gail Morello and her husband Dom, Lynn Medeiros and her husband Bob, and Nancy Symczak and her partner Jim; his grandchildren: Kristen, Tara, Christopher, Courtney, Caitlin, Colleen, Patrick, Andrew, Angela, Rob, Trevor, Kaley, Sean, Erika, Rebecca, Jeremy, Matt, Melyssa, Leah, and Sarah; his great-grandchildren: Nadine, Charles, Eliana, Brecken, Finnegan, Cian, Rory, John, Marion, Jasper, Zoe Lyn, Jordan, Isabelle, Addison, Mila, and Austin; along with his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and his lifelong friend, Raymond Gary. He was predeceased by his siblings, Donald, Arthur, and Mary “Jean;” and their parents, Joseph and Anna Mary (Faucher) Benoit.
Bob was born and raised in Worcester and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School in 1944. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged. Bob specialized in HVAC, and he retired as the Service Manager of Thermo Engineering, Inc in Worcester.
Bob had a knack for working with his hands, and was known as “Mr. Fix-It!” He was incredibly skilled when it came to woodworking and carpentry.
He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Auburn Council, for many years. He was an esteemed mentor to many and served in a variety of capacities from building system’s maintenance to fundraising and was a past Grand Knight.
When Bob wasn’t creating or fixing something, he could be found playing or watching golf, enjoying time at the beach, or in the kitchen making his family's favorite silver-dollar pancakes. He also loved playing dominoes every evening. Bob was a loving, devoted husband and father and he will be deeply missed by Betty and his entire family. Bob left us a beautiful legacy of quiet strength and love that will always be with us.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the Benoit family from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Monday, January 23, 2023 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central St., Auburn. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday at St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street N, Auburn, with committal prayers and military honors to follow at Notre Dame Mausoleum, Worcester.
