Obituary for Dorothy M. "Dot" MacAdams

Dorothy M. “Dot” (Gifford) MacAdams, 83, lifelong Worcester/Auburn resident, died on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at UMASS Memorial Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald G. MacAdams, in 1989.

She is survived by her sons, Keith MacAdams, of Pavillion, Wyoming, and Graham MacAdams and wife Gail, of Warwick, RI; her grandchildren, Heather Russo and husband Wayne, Tiffany Virguetti and husband Denis, Garrett MacAdams, and Scott MacAdams and wife Shiloh; her great-grandchildren, Renzo, Sadie, Kinder, Niko, Knoxson, Eden, and Elowen; her loving sister, Beryl Adams, of Worcester; her niece, Debra Haughton; nephew, David Adams; and loving friends, Ellie Asadoorian and Kathleen “Kathy” Livingstone, and special friends, Marilyn Spets and Beth MacAdams, who were an immense help to her for many years. Dot was also predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Kim MacAdams; and her parents, Kenneth and Lucille (Jehlicka) Gifford.

Dot was born, raised, and educated in Worcester, graduating from Commerce High School with the Class of 1957. In her younger years, she worked as a secretary for Anderson Products. She retired at age 81, officially, after her career as a receptionist for Adcare Hospital for 37 years.

In her free time, Dot enjoyed reading, listening to music, especially Country Western. She loved visiting Lake Winnipesaukee with her mom, Beryl, and Kathy. She loved spending time in the sun and by the water. Her trips to Wyoming with Keith and Kim to see her grandson, Garrett, in recent years, was the highlight of her summers.

Dot was an active and faithful member of the Worcester Ecclesia of Christadelphians. She also would have celebrated 45 years of sobriety this year, which she was more than proud of.

Her family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Worcester Ecclesia of Christadelphians, 218 Greenwood St., Worcester, MA 01607.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather for a celebration of life reception on Sunday, June 11th from 2 - 5 PM, followed by a memorial gathering at 5:30 PM. Both will be held at the Worcester Christadelphian Chapel, 218 Greenwood St., Worcester, MA. Burial will be held privately.
